Hi there! Welcome to my first blog post. For a while I wasn’t sure where to start with this blog. I knew I wanted this post to be a baked good of some sort, but was a little too hung up on choosing what to make! Baking has always been something I have enjoyed. I grew up around a lot of both cooking and baking, but baking is where I tend to feel the most creative, and is what really prompted me to start a blog to begin with. I wanted it to be something simple, non holiday related, and little celebratory at the same time. That being said, today I bring you brown butter blondies with toffee pieces, and sprinkles for a dose of cuteness and that celebratory element.
There seems to be quite a lot of people who aren’t fans of the blondie. However, I can promise you, these aren’t your ordinary blondies. The browned butter and toffee pieces elevate the flavor of your standard blondie to another level. I had someone who told me they could never imagine themselves liking a “vanilla flavored brownie” tell me that this was the most delicious thing he had ever tasted. One of the waiter’s at the restaurant I work in even said it was the best blondie he’s ever had. I’ll go ahead and take some pride in that ;).

So even if you aren’t a fan, give this recipe a try! Let’s go ahead and break this recipe down, shall we?
The first step in this recipe is melting and browning your butter. I chose to brown the butter because it adds so much more flavor to recipes. Browned butter gives off a wonderful nutty aroma and a rich taste. If you want to elevate simple recipes, brown your butter! You’ll want to do this first because the butter needs to cool completely before you mix other ingredients into it. To brown the butter, simply melt on low medium heat, and either swirl the pan or constantly stir until the butter turns into an amber color. This can go from amber to burnt very quick, so be careful. Burnt butter will NOT taste good. It is better to stop at almost amber and still have a nice aroma than to burn it. Pour into a medium glass bowl and let cool.

While the butter is cooling, mix your dry ingredients. Grab your flour, baking powder and salt and whisk in a large bowl until combined. Once your butter has cooled down, mix in your vanilla, light brown sugar and eggs until smooth (Note: your wet ingredients will be a lot more liquid than the picture above, as they should, because the photo was taken before the addition of eggs and vanilla). Add your wet ingredients to your dry, and fold in until combined. Keep in mind that you do not have to fully incorporate the flour at this point, because you will still be adding the sprinkles and toffee pieces, and therefore will be mixing the batter even more. After adding those extra bits, it should be fully incorporated. The reason I mention this is because over mixing can ruin the texture of this blondie. Fold in everything gently and slowly if you have to!

Lastly, spread evenly in a pan the best you can, add extra sprinkles on top, and bake! You’ll be left with these tasty treats and a wonderful aroma in the kitchen.

Let cool completely before cutting and serving! You can thank me later 🙂 Hope you all enjoy!
With Love,
Jenna
