Thanksgiving is less than one week away, and to me, that officially seals the end of the autumn season. As sad as I am to say goodbye to fall and begin the winter season, I also cannot wait for all of the Christmas vibes to come. But, fall isn’t quite over yet, and I plan to sneak at least a couple more fall related posts on here while I can, starting with my fall favorites this year! I feel like I got into the fall spirit more than ever before and as creatively as possible this year, considering the obvious restrictions we’ve all had in place, so I am so excited to share it all. Let’s get into it! 🙂
1. Baking Soda Paint Trend on Fall Decor:
I’m certain most of you have seen the baking soda and paint trend all over social media this year, but if you haven’t, I’m probably about to change your life. You can find several tutorials about this online, but the gist of it is you mix together baking soda and paint, and when added to most surfaces, the piece ends up looking ceramic. Forget spending all your money on ceramic vases and pots, you can easily make it with this trick! This fall, I decided to try the trend on plastic decor pumpkins, and I absolutely LOVE how it turned out. 10/10 recommend for anyone who wants to try it this year or next!
As you can see, I also did the trend on thrifted vases and I love how those came out as well, I plan to keep them out all year round.
Worked perfectly with this cheap outdoor pumpkin and this tiny trick-or-treat bucket that I turned into a planter 🙂
2. Homemade Apple Cider:
We were lucky to get our hands on fresh-pressed apple cider twice this season from an apple stand in Sedona and let me tell you, it was hands down the best apple cider I’ve ever had. The best part is that there was no added sugar, it was just the apples! It has made me want to make my own homemade apple cider so I can enjoy it throughout the holidays as well. I’ll link the recipe I want to try right here!
3. Square-Toed Boots:
I definitely didn’t think this would be a trend that I would get into, but alas, I love it. Something about the shape makes me feel extra stylish, and I feel as though they look good at any height and add something special to every outfit! Even the Chelsea Boots I got this year are square-toed. I hope this shape and style is here to stay!
4. Fun Fall Nails:
Beyond Halloween designs in October, I usually stick to one shade on my nails at this time of year. However, this fall I had so much fun doing different fall color combinations on my nails. I’ve always loved deep shades of nail polish at this time of year, and playing around with them has been so fun. Here is some of the inspiration I pulled from Pinterest:
5. Pumpkin Shaped Waffle Maker:
This is officially the most adorable waffle maker I’ve ever owned. If you love waffles as much as I do, trust me, you need your waffles to be shaped like pumpkins during the fall season. The best part is, it is only $10! I’ll take cute mini pumpkin waffles over regular waffles for that price any day. This waffle maker was the perfect way to add a little festive touch into my everyday life this season, and I definitely recommend it!
6. Painted Pumpkins:
This has definitely been the year of DIYs for me and autumn was no exception. I did the traditional pumpkin carving during the week of Halloween, but I also painted pumpkins this year and I have to say, it was so soothing and fun! It was also nice for where I live in Arizona, because I was able to get Halloween vibes on a pumpkin without it turning to sludge in less than a day. This cutie lasted me all season long!
7. Autumn Scented Candles:
What kind of fall favorites would this be if I didn’t include my fall candle picks? 😉 This year, I really gravitated more towards the fresh, crisp scented candles. Leaves from Bath & Body Works has always been a favorite of mine, but I also absolutely loved the Harvest Gathering scent this year. In my opinion, it smells like Leaves and the Lavender scent from Mrs. Meyers had a child and it smelled absolutely amazing. If I could only choose one candle for the season, it would have been that one.
8. Homemade Caramel Apple Bar:
I don’t think I’ve actually gone all out with caramel apples since I was a kid, and making them this year was so fun! For our caramel apples, we just melted down caramel candies and added cream, but you could easily make the caramel homemade and it would be even more delicious. For toppings we put out sprinkles, nuts and chocolate chips. This was the perfect activity to get in the fall mood at the beginning of the season this year. 9. Berry Tones and Rare Beauty:
Rare Beauty has to be my favorite makeup brand to come out of 2020. I recently received a holiday sampler and I am in love with every single product! I adore Selena Gomez so I am so excited to say that I love everything that she is doing with this brand. It helps that the makeup products are everything I like about makeup in sleek, fun packages. I really love how this set has beautiful berry tones for the fall season as well. I cannot wait to try more and continue using her products throughout the rest of fall and the winter season.
10. Affordable Friendsgiving/Thanksgiving Decor:
One of my best friends and I drew inspiration from Pinterest for our last two Friendsgivings and our tablescape turned out perfect both times, not to mention, it was incredibly affordable. We used kraft paper for the table runner, and wrote out names with leaves for the table setting. We used dollar store plates, napkins and silverware, and leftover seasonal decor from around the house. Some eucalyptus, a few mini pumpkins and some tea lights later and we had the perfect tablescape for our mini Friendsgiving this year! I also think this would be so fun for Thanksgiving as well, you could even have younger family members write a list of what they are thankful for on the kraft paper next to their name. I quickly have to give a notable mention to the Instagram account @seehercreate for the tutorial on these painted turkey discs too, so cute!
