10 Spring Wellness Tips

10 Spring Wellness Tips

Spring is right around the corner and boy oh boy does that make me happy! It is my absolute favorite season and I cannot wait! I am a total sucker for spring because I love the weather, scenery, beauty & style, and also of course my birthday and Easter! I love how bright and in bloom everything is and it definitely puts me in a good mood. With a new season comes new opportunities to be healthy and grow, so I thought I’d share some of my favorite spring wellness tips with you all. Let’s get into it!

  1. Set “Blooming” Goals:

Spring is often viewed as a rebirth and a fresh start. The winter gray fades away, the sun comes out and everything begins to bloom. It’s the perfect time to ask yourself, how do you want to bloom this season? What positive goals can you set for yourself? Set a few personal goals and try to adhere to them for the season. This can be anything that benefits your physical and mental well-being. My personal goal is to pay more attention to me. Life can get so hectic and implementing a daily self-care routine is a must for me!

2. Eat In-Season Foods:

This is something that I will include in all seasonal wellness posts. It’s so important to recognize that the foods grown in season have benefits that our bodies need. I’m not just saying whole foods are more nutrient dense, that of course we know. I’m also noting that our bodies’ needs change season to season, and that the produce grown within that season naturally tends to those needs of ours. For instance, in spring-time, our bodies are detoxing after a long winter storage. Part of this detox includes needing extra support for our liver and gallbladder. Lucky for us, most of the produce grown at this time already does this for us. Foods like garlic, asparagus, spinach, strawberries, artichoke, lemon, etc. all aid in this! It’s really fascinating to me as I feel as it’s Mother Nature’s way of supporting us. My first intrigue on the subject came from the book Eat Pretty by Jolene Hart, and it has since changed my life completely. I highly suggest it to you all!

3. Get Grounded:

As I mentioned above, spring can be a pretty hectic time of year,  but it’s important to take time to stop and smell the roses (literally). What better time to connect with nature than in spring, when the outdoors is at its most beautiful? Not only are the flowers and greenery pretty as can be, but the weather is appropriate for outdoor activities and spending time with nature can really center you. It can be as simple as going barefoot in the grass outside, going on a nature walk, or of you’re lucky, sitting by the beach! Any connection with nature should keep you grounded and help stabilize your mentality.

4. Start Your Spring Cleaning:

I can’t express how important this is. In order to obtain those blooming goals we talked about we need to have a clear space! Get rid of all the negative energy in your space and get rid of everything you don’t need! Once that is done, take the time to organize everything. In our daily lives we don’t have the opportunity to do a deep sort like this, so take it now. You’ll thank yourself later when the function of your space is in tip top shape for the next couple seasons.

5. Combat Seasonal Allergies:

We all get them, and it’s always a pain in the butt. Combatting them any way that works for you is important, because if not taken care of seasonal allergies can lead to a sinus infection, which is not what we want! However, since it is a yearly occurrence, I would recommend incorporating some natural options into your life to help. Things like local honey, vitamin c, and essential oils can really set you up for success when it is allergy season. The thought behind local honey is that we ingest our local pollens, building a sort of immunity to them until they no longer affect us. It’s worth a try and an easy incorporation as you can put it in your tea, in a smoothie, on toast, on fruit, and more. You get the idea. Vitamin C is also helpful because not only does it keep our immune systems up but also lowers the severity of allergic reactions. I personally take 2 vitamin c vitamins daily but you can also get it in other forms like from citrus or emergen-c packets, of course. Lastly, some essential oils like lavender, eucalyptus and peppermint can help reduce inflammation, further combatting those pesky allergies! Hopefully these tips help you get through sneezy season!

6. Avoid Inflammatory Foods:

This leads me to my next point. What would the point of keeping inflammation down with all those wonderful allergy tips be if we just inflamed our bodies right back up with in inflammatory foods? Because this is a season of allergies and detoxing, avoiding these foods is really important. This season, try avoiding as much refined and sugary foods as possible. Other foods like processed snacks and meats as well as food groups like unhealthy fats and too much alcohol can also cause our body to have inflammation. Keeping them out of our daily meals is extra important at this time of year. Of course, it’s ok to indulge every once in a while, but try to be more mindful to help your body be as nourished and supported as possible.

7. Start Exercising Again:

Now is a great time! Typically, we tend to lag on this in the winter months. Getting out if bed in cold weather and having the motivation to work out is difficult, so we kind of get use to erasing exercise from our routine. Well, now is the perfect time to get back on it! Our bodies are already in detox mode, take advantage of that and continue to support your body by moving it! The weather is another perfect opportunity for outdoor exercise as well. Everyone has different goals and reasons for working out, but it is so beneficial for our mind and bodies. Whatever your goal may be, start it now!

8. Switch Up Your Beauty Routine:

This is something that will be different for everyone, but it’s definitely fun and something that can really make us confident and happy. Whatever your idea of spring makeup is, do it! I personally love a fresh base and incorporating pink tones. I also like having fun with lip colors at this time of year. Whatever floats your boat and makes you happy is the way to go. In terms of health, please start incorporating SPF again if you don’t use it year round (you should). The UV rays are starting to increase and we need to protect our skin!

9. Incorporate Fresh Elements Into Your Home:

We know that our space affects our mood, so why not make it bright and happy? Something as simple as adding a bowl of lemons into a kitchen or bouquet of flowers can make us feel so joyful. Plants in the home, again, can also make us feel more grounded, and if you want to take it a step further, try growing something small in your house! Something like a basil kit or small flower kit can be nurturing to the soul! Anything that will add some freshness into your space will be beneficial to you 🙂

10. Visit Local Farmers Markets, Vendors, Festivals and More:

Take advantage of the beautiful weather and go to all those outdoor activities before its too late! At this time of year I love going to farmers markets and flea markets because it’s the one time of year I truly enjoy it! Plus, farmers markets are a great place to get those in season foods we talked about 🙂 Enjoy the season while it’s here and live presently in whatever way that means to you! There are so many fun things to do at this time of year, and I live in Arizona, so I’m sure wherever you’re at there’s even more awesome activities to participate in. My advice is to just do it!

Hope you all enjoyed these tips! Which one resonated with you the most? What will you be incorporating into your spring days? Wishing everyone a healthy and happy season 🙂

With Love,

Jenna
