Honey Limeade

Honey Limeade

Happy May! I’m not sure about you guys, but the month of April flew by for me! This month, I want to rejoice in all of spring’s beauty as it remains, and take some time to smell the roses. I’m starting out with a wonderful fresh recipe! In April, I made a key lime pie for my boyfriend’s birthday which reminded me of how much I love the flavor and aroma of lime. I then thought that there are few times we savor in lime sweets. There aren’t many if you think about it, and I only tend to make a key lime pie or shortbread on occasion. I found myself wishing there was something lime flavored I could indulge in a little more often. Well boy oh boy do I have a delight for you! Honey limeade is perfectly refreshing for the warm months ahead. A twist on classic lemonade, the lemons are swapped for limes and the sugar is swapped for honey, giving this drink a sweet yet bright, tropical taste. Make it for your spring brunch or for your upcoming summer parties. It is absolutely exquisite, and I can’t wait to show you how easy it is!

To begin, take one cup of water and the honey and put into a medium sauce pot. I chose honey because not only is it healthier, but it adds more of a floral sweet flavor. It’s easier to have multiple glasses without being too sweet, and you won’t feel as bad for having the refined sugar in a drink. Turn the stove onto medium heat and stir until the honey is melted and combined with the water. Set aside.

Squeeze a cup of juice out of your limes. This recipe will also work with lemons if that’s what you fancy, and I’m sure it would be wonderful with grapefruit too, or oranges if you reduced the amount of sweetener added. Have fun with it! It took me about eight large limes to achieve this.

Add the remaining cups of water to a pitcher, along with the lime juice and honey water mixture. Remember, you can always add more water if it’s too potent for you. The beauty of a recipe this simple is that you can customize it to you! Stir it all together, and let cool in the fridge until nice and chilled!

Serve and enjoy!

Hope you give this recipe a try! Let me know if you enjoy it! I hope it freshens up your spring and summer!

With Love,

Jenna

Tip: Wanna bump this up for a party? Replace about 3/4 of the water with sparkling water and add vodka and fresh mint leaves for  a spritzer, or simply add white rum and mint leaves for a mojito. Happy Drinking!

Notes

*The honey is definitely a stand out flavor in this recipe. I love the sweet taste and floral aroma it gives. However, if you are not the biggest fan of honey, either reduce to 1/2 cup, or swap it out for sugar. You can add the sugar to the water and let dissolve completely instead. Once dissolved into the water, it'll simmer and create a simple syrup. Use this in place of the honey and it'll give a more classic lime flavor 🙂
